To ensure the precision and reliability of its timepieces, Rolex submits each watch after assembly to a stringent series of tests. All new Rolex watches purchased from one of the brand’s Official Retailers come with a five-year international guarantee. When you buy a Rolex, the Official Retailer fills out and dates the Rolex guarantee card that certifies your watch’s authenticity.

The five-year guarantee which applies to all Rolex models is coupled with the green seal, a symbol of its status as a Superlative Chronometer. This exclusive designation attests that the watch has successfully undergone a series of specific final controls by Rolex in its own laboratories according to its own criteria, in addition to the official COSC certification of its movement.

The dial is the distinctive face of a Rolex watch, the feature most responsible for its identity and readability. The Explorer models characteristic 3, 6 and 9 numerals are filled with a luminescent material emitting a long-lasting blue glow, like the hour markers and hands. Like all Rolex timepieces, the Explorer 40's dial is designed and manufactured in-house, largely by hand to ensure perfection.

The Oyster Perpetual Explorer 40 imparts a fresh elan to the sober, clean lines that have long established it as an icon. The smooth bezel in Oystersteel is robust yet elegant, and in perfect harmony with the Explorers iconic heritage.

Oystersteel

Rolex uses Oystersteel for its steel watch cases. Specially developed by the brand, Oystersteel belongs to the 904L steel family, alloys most commonly used in high-technology and in the aerospace and chemical industries, where maximum resistance to corrosion is essential. Oystersteel is extremely resistant, offers an exceptional finish once polished and maintains its beauty even in the harshest environments.

All Rolex watches are assembled by hand with great care to ensure exceptional quality. Such high standards naturally limit Rolex's production capacity and sometimes the demand for Rolex watches exceeds this capacity.

Therefore, availability of certain models may be limited. New Rolex watches are sold exclusively through Official Rolex Retailers, who receive regular deliveries and independently manage distribution and sales to their customers.
